T1D and Neurodivergent Support Group (Recurring Monthly)

This event recurs monthly on the 2nd Wed of every month at 6pm Pacific, and is run by Molly Barry, coordinated by BreakthroughT1D NorthCal.

Do you have a child with the dual diagnosis of T1D & Neurodivergence? Join us for this free virtual event and meet other parents in the community. Ask questions, share resources, and receive advice and support. We will have monthly topics. We hope you can join us!

Sandra Moreno and Lolis Rocha

Sandra Moreno and Lolis Rocha are dynamic bilingual diabetes educators, playing a key role in transforming our English videos into Spanish. With their expertise, they not only translate but also ensure that the content resonates culturally, making it both accessible and relevant to Spanish-speaking audiences. Without them, the Spanish channel would be impossible.

Kelsey Dietrich

Kelsey Dietrich, MA, is a clinical health psychology doctoral student at East Carolina University. She is also the author of “Mindfulness for Type 1 Diabetes”. Using her unique expertise, we created a playlist of videos focusing on mental health in type 1 diabetes, where you can learn more about what mental health is, common mental health challenges that people with diabetes experience, and strategies to support mental wellbeing.

Daniela Rojas

Daniela Rojas is a psychologist, diabetes educator, and advocate for the Spanish-speaking diabetes community. She has been living with type 1 diabetes for many years. 

In collaboration with Daniela, we translated the mental health playlist into Spanish—ensuring this valuable resource is accessible and inclusive for Spanish-speaking individuals navigating diabetes.

Ginger Vieira

Ginger Vieira is an author,  podcaster, writer, diabetes content specialist, and passionate advocate for type 1 diabetes (T1D)! Our collaboration created a playlist exploring the nuances of exercise in type 1 diabetes.

Ginger lives with type 1 diabetes, celiac disease, and fibromyalgia, and she uses her experience to educate, empower, and support others living with chronic conditions.

Kaajal Vaghela

Kaajal Vaghela is a wellness entrepreneur and diabetes advocate based between Zambia and Dubai. With 30+ years of lived-in experience as a Type 1 Diabetic, she empowers communities of colour to manage diabetes with confidence and break stigma. As Chairperson of the Diabetes Association of Zambia (Lusaka branch) and founder of DiabetesByKC, she bridges cultural gaps in diabetes education.
Through our collaboration, we’re making diabetes awareness more engaging, accessible and impactful through animated storytelling that highlights real-life experiences across different cultural contexts – and we’re just getting started!

Dr. Kidist Nega

Dr. Kidist Nega, a dedicated general practitioner and Vice-President of the Ethiopian Diabetes Association’s Dilla branch, is deeply committed to providing top-tier diabetes care to individuals and families affected by the condition. Her passion and drive were the inspiration behind our diabetes literacy video series in Amharic. And this is just the beginning – more valuable resources are on the way!

Katie Bennett and Anna Barash are members of the clinical research team at Benaroya Research Institute, playing a pivotal role in type 1 diabetes research and education regarding the progression of the disease. With their expertise, we are creating a series of videos about the value of screening for type 1 diabetes risk.

DiabetesSisters empowers women of all ages living with or at risk for diabetes through peer support, education, and advocacy. Their programs—like monthly PODS Meetups and expert-led webinars—create safe, inclusive spaces for connection and learning across all types of diabetes.

Coach Ken

Coach Ken, a passionate diabetic health coach and the founder of Simplifying Life with Diabetes, is the host of The Healthy Diabetic podcast. On the show, he dives deep into the complexities of living with diabetes, offering valuable insights through interviews with doctors, dietitians, certified diabetes educators, tech innovators, caregivers, and anyone touched by T1D.
Molly and Dr. Radhika were invited to share their animaT1D journey, and its vision and mission on his show.
